On Thursday 20th March Chris Gillis, our MD set off on an expedition with 23 other team members to trek over 50km across the Sahara Desert.
Totally in Chris’s words and we quote “Ok so I did a thing ! Well actually not strictly true, WE did a thing, we completed a challenge, by which I mean my 23 new friends and I, absolutely smashed a 50k walk through some of the most unruly and spectacular landscapes I have ever seen. The high temperatures, the wind, the sand, the rocks, the hills, the dunes and the zero alcohol were never gunna stop this lot. We have eaten together, slept together, used the same hole in the ground together, laughed a lot, cried a bit, mopped each other up, but most of all being there for each and every one us, to get through the amazing challenges of the Sahara desert. Oh we a did do some sand boarding too! The Berbers were amazing, the camels were great (and smell a bit) our tour manger Anna Gordon was amazing and looked after us, right from the arrival at Manchester airport to getting back. We also had amazing food at every location and a great party in Marrakesh after. It’s took quite a bit to write this, but I want to thank my amazing new friends at Blythe House Hospice for having me along and helping to raise over 45k for these great people to carry on doing there much needed work and support where it’s needed.”
Chris personally raised a remarkable £2,951.25, and couldn’t be prouder of his efforts. A huge thank you to everyone who donated and helped support this incredible cause
