MCD Home & Garden were founded in Barnsley in 2015. Run by husband and wife team, Martin & Emma Blacksell they are now based in Carlton Industrial Estate where they have a distinctive indoor showroom.

They specialise in high-quality, built to last garden buildings including sheds, summerhouses and garden rooms.

Covering the whole of the UK mainland and even some of the islands of the UK, they have gone from strength to strength.

In 2015 MCD was based in Stairfoot, Infinite provided the fire & security for the 2 properties they occupied. In 2018, when they moved to a larger premises in Carlton, Infinite made the transition seamless. For any information on their brilliant buildings

We, along with our Daughter Michelle decided to set up a secure dog walking field in Pool In Wharfdale as a diversification project. The Holmes family has successfully farmed the land for 5 generations and we welcome responsible dog owners to come and enjoy off-leash freedom and stress-free peace of mind. Pool Dog Park allows general public bookings to walk and exercise their dogs in a totally private and secure environment.

With dogs and owners in mind, we have created a dog park in West Yorkshire that mimics dogs’ natural behaviour through different forms of apparatus to help calm their minds, increase endurance, agility, and help keep bones and muscles strong and healthy. We mimic nature with our fantastic facilities, including: Sensory Tyres, Weaving Poles, Sand Pit, Reel Climb, Tyre Tunnel, Tug Rope, Jumps, Balls & Toys and Tunnels. There is also a Horse Trailer on site which has both seating and electricity with an outdoor picnic for your comfort.

As the park is run remotely with the bookings taken through our online system, we decided that using codes and/or locks would delay our customers bookings meaning they would not get the full experience from the park. Upon conclusion of this, we realised that a security system would be the best option for us to monitor who is entering and exiting the field - this can be accessed at the press of a button through the mobile app.

We are a family-run dairy farm based in Elvington, York, which milks 245 free-range pedigree Jersey Cows.

We were awarded best herd on inspection in both 2020 & 2021 in the Yorkshire Country Milk recorded herds competition.

The Shaw family have been farming at Grey Leys Farm since 1876, now the farm is in its fifth generation and David runs the farm with his wife, Anne, and daughter Helen. While David was at college he conducted work experience at a farm in Devon where he fell in love with Jersey Cows. He proceeded to buy 13 heifers from a sale in Totnes in 1968, he brought them back to Elvington and this was the start of the Greyleys herd. David and Anne have grown the herd together for over 50 years and they now have over 245 pedigree cows and over 170 young stock, with many of the herd descending from the original 13.

Our award-winning Jersey milk is sold to Longley Farm, Huddersfield, where it is used to make various products including butter, cream, yoghurt and cottage cheese. We also pasteurise our own milk which can be purchased directly through our vending machines located on the Rydal Garage forecourt (Elvington) & the Balloon Tree Farm Shop & Café (Gate Helmsley).

Our friendly brown cows produce luxurious milk. It has a delicious rich and creamy flavour and a wonderful golden colour. It’s a natural source of protein, calcium, iodine, and vitamins, and our milk is never homogenised or standardised so the cream will rise to the top and you will find seasonal variation in flavour and colour. This must be why, in 2022, we won the 2 Star Great Taste Award. Its award winning milk “like milk used to taste”.

With the Sisters of the Holy Paraclete being in residence for over 100 years, the astounding Castle, Priory & Chapel stands in one of the most iconic buildings in the area. One of the most spectacular features is the unbelievable Norman-Style Chapel which is fully licensed for all ceremonies. Having admired the craftsmanship and architecture from our previous neighbouring celebration venue, The Stables at Crossbutts, it was the most natural of progressions and simply an opportunity that could not be missed when it came on the market.

Unfortunately, not all the past has been quite so nice. In April 2001, our home Cross Butts farm fell victim to the terrible scourge of the countryside foot and mouth.

Cross Butts was the home of a herd of Holstein Pedigree Cattle. These were milked three times a day, every day with each cow averaging 11,000kg and the heifer 10,000kg of milk each. We had 51 excellent cows to the highest grade the Holstein Association can give when we lost them. We used embryo transplants for a number of years and sold individual animals to almost every County in the UK & Ireland and had twice exceeded £10,000gns for individual animals in public auction. These standards needed extreme dedication and attention to detail over the years.

“When foot and mouth came, it was a massive shock. I lost my entire career, and I had an empty farm - I couldn't handle it. If you think back to 20 years ago and what happened to farmers, it was hard for everyone.”

In August 2003 we were granted planning permission to rebuild in the old stable and the adjoining courtyard. The Farmhouse dated 1691 and the stables were thought to be older still. Many Generations ago Cross Butts had been a Coaching Inn and the road had originally been on the other side of the house. The re-build took 12 months and a team of locally selected tradesmen. Their attention to detail and marvelous craft is displayed for all to see. We tried our very best not to cut corners and have kept the original character throughout wherever possible and are extremely proud with the end result.

Our dream to make Cross Butts a happy place to be, once again, is now complete. Fast forward to 2018, never in our wildest imagination did we believe that one day we would have the opportunity to purchase Sneaton Castle and Priory….

The greatest pleasure of all is that we have continued and strengthened our friendship with the sisters. They understand and appreciate all that we are doing. We are also very aware of the life they lived and in many small ways we are maintaining the character and history of the building so that they will not be forgotten. This is very important to us.

How it all began:

Having the opportunity to work with and support Bartec Auto ID on projects has been a privilege. Colin Webb (Managing Director) and Chris (our MD) actually go back to 1993 when Chris was a trainee working in the fire industry.

As they were both based in the same local business centre when they had the chance they used to meet up, have a coffee and chat to see how their businesses were doing. Bartec Auto ID was rapidly growing as a business and in 1998 Chris moved on with his career into the fire and security industry. Once Chris had learned all the aspects he could doing various job roles, he decided to start his own business. So, in the late 2000’s this brought him back to his roots - in the Barnsley business centre where Colin still was (even though many more units were taken up by the expansion of Bartec). From this point, Colin and Chris would talk like they used to and obviously, many years had passed so a lot to catch up on, he would check in on us and be on hand if we needed any managerial support.

Once Bartec had outgrown the business centre and purchased their business premises in Barnsley they contacted us straight away to see what they needed in the building to make them both compliant with the fire alarm regulations and safe with the security systems. Surveys took place, quotes were sent over, and with no hesitation, we received confirmation to carry out the work. The feeling that we were actually installing fire detection, extinguishers, CCTV, access control and an Intruder alarm was quite surreal.

Different projects organised through Colin and Bartec were happening like business expansion and charity projects and of course, we were involved with them all.

We have carried on having a very strong working relationship, and we are sure this will be the case for many years to come.

One of our very memorable projects through the business links we had was to put in place all the scopes we have covered as a business for a local charity named “Local Mencap Barnsley”. With this being one of the charities Bartec supports, Chris thought it would be good for Infinite to support it too. Local Mencap Barnsley is a registered charity and the property they used needed re-vamping, so our donation to this was to make the building complaint for its members by installing full systems like the fire alarm, CCTV etc. The full case study on this can be found in our first newsletter or by following this link https://www.infinitefiresecurity.co.uk/blog/ We still support Local Mencap Barnsley as much as we can and attend the charity nights to raise much needed funds for them, it is also nice for a catch up with Colin (out of work times).

Charity Work
