Things that go “Bump” in the night
This is statistically the worst time of year for burglaries, with domestic damage skyrocketing up by an eye-watering 160%!
So here is a few seasonal ‘security top tips’:
- Ensure you lock your doors and windows when going out for the evening. A shocking 20% of us admit to leaving our front doors unlocked and/or upstairs windows open therefore making us vulnerable to theft.
- To prevent unsolicited ‘tricks’ this Halloween season, invest in a letter plate restrictor which will stop thieves from fishing keys or accessing the door lock.
- If you don’t want to be disturbed by Little Witches and Devils this Halloween, put up a preventative ‘No Trick or Treaters’ sign on your front door. These are available from most local police constabularies but we’re sure even an easily readable hand written note would suffice.
- DO NOT share your plans for the festivities on social media until AFTER the event. Burglars are more and more frequently using social media as a source of information to target properties that they know are empty and vulnerable.
Whatever you’re doing this Halloween and Bonfire night, have fun and BE SAFE!
