After our recent audit with the SSAIB, it was a little different to normal – due to the current situation.

Our annual audit was completed remotely for BAFE SP203 & Security Systems. We decided to give them feedback for this, as any feedback for a company helps. Our continual improvement scheme seems to be paying off, and working with the SSAIB and their auditors we will continue to grow.

With the spread of Coronavirus we are all in a time of uncertainty but wanted to assure you that here at Infinite, it is business as usual and will remain like this for the foreseeable future.

We have contingency plans in place to ensure there will be no downturn in service levels and look forward to continuing to work with you for your installation & servicing requirements.

Same time next week? The Infinite Weekly Testing

Commercial premises by law have to have some form of fire detection system installed. With that, comes the testing of said detection system. Any automatic detection system requires weekly testing by a nominated competent person. This is to be carried out during normal working hours and at the same approximate time each week. It is necessary for the competent person to ensure that faults at the panel are identified for appropriate action.

It is also vital for regular tests to be carried out to ensure that there has not been any major failure of the entire system. This is all outlined in the British Standards for fire detection and fire alarm systems; BS5839-1:2017. Then, if a fault is found, the relevant contractors need to be contacted and called out to fix the fault.

This is a lot to put on an employees shoulders and sadly, mistakes can be made. Most people are not even aware of BS5839-1, let alone have actually read it. As the business owner, it requires a lot of trust and confidence in your employee/competent person to make sure your premises are up to this British Standard should the unthinkable happen. Making sure the finer details are carried out such as operating a different manual call point each week or updating the log book correctly, for insurance purposes, you need to make sure everything is up to standard.

Thats’ why at Infinite, we have launched the Infinite Weekly package. It is an agreement between yourself and Infinite where we will have a dedicated engineer attend your premises on the same day, at the same approximate time each week to carry out the testing for you, we can test any commercial property including working with property management companies. That way, you can be confident that your fire alarm system is being tested by an accredited engineer who has decades of experience and that all the T’s are crossed and all the i’s dotted. If a fault is found during testing? Not a problem. If we’re able to fix the issue there and then, we will. If any major fault is found or any major works are required then we will report it to yourself and arrange to come and repair asap. Therefore cutting out the middle man and admin time. You can take reassurance that both the testing and any repair work will be done to the highest of standards as we are SSAIB, FIA and BAFE accredited. These are accreditations we are VERY proud of and we work VERY hard to maintain them year-on-year.

We also offer in addition, installation and monitoring to your fire panel where by, if there is a fault either in or out of office hours, you will be alerted. Therefore keeping you in the loop 24/7. We also offer a key-holder agreement, so that you don’t have to worry about being at the premises at the same time each week.

If you would like us to attend your site for a FREE NO OBLIGATION quote, then get in touch. Either via the web chat link, telephone or email addresses found in our ‘Contact Us’ section.

Keeping up with technology

Technology these days moves at lightening speed. If you follow our social medias, you’ll have seen that recently we have been to Dahua, who are our suppliers of all things CCTV, to gain further knowledge of all the new technology they have to offer. So that in turn, we can pass this along to our customers and offer you the latest and best products to fit your requirements.

We also attended this training to get specific knowledge of a brand new camera/technology that has just come to the market. Its so new, there isn’t even any marketing literature! We have fitted a few of these cameras for our customers over the past few weeks and we really are astounded by the quality. CCTV over the years has slowly improved. Higher resolution cameras and infrared technology to see in the dark have been the main advancements. Until now. Dahua have introduced their new STARVIS technology. It is a full colour camera, and when they say full colour, they mean full colour. This camera allows you to see everything in crystal clear colour both day AND NIGHT! Even if you have low lighting at your property. Available as a 2MP and 4MP camera, they don’t cost the earth either. They have been priced as such so that both domestic and commercial properties can afford the latest technologies without it taking your last penny.

There are many CCTV installation adverts around at the moment – mostly on social media. Most are unaccredited companies that are offering after market D-grade cameras with no mention of warranty. They are not systems you can put much safety confidence in. Here at Infinite, we are fully accredited by SSAIB, something that we are VERY proud and its something we work VERY hard to maintain year-on-year.

Our engineers have over 20 years experience in CCTV installation and we are so confident in our CCTV systems and installation that we will even extend the manufacturers warranty from 12 months to 3 years!*

If you want a company that you can confidently put yours, your family/staff and your properties safety in, then why not contact us for a FREE NO OBLIGATION site survey by one of our accredited engineers to see if we can meet your requirements. We’re confident that we can!

Contact us via the website chat or head over to the ‘Contact Us’ section for various other ways we can be contacted.

*subject to on-going maintenance agreement.

Be safe ….

Things that go “Bump” in the night

This is statistically the worst time of year for burglaries, with domestic damage skyrocketing up by an eye-watering 160%!

So here is a few seasonal ‘security top tips’:

  1. Ensure you lock your doors and windows when going out for the evening. A shocking 20% of us admit to leaving our front doors unlocked and/or upstairs windows open therefore making us vulnerable to theft.
  2. To prevent unsolicited ‘tricks’ this Halloween season, invest in a letter plate restrictor which will stop thieves from fishing keys or accessing the door lock.
  3. If you don’t want to be disturbed by Little Witches and Devils this Halloween, put up a preventative ‘No Trick or Treaters’ sign on your front door. These are available from most local police constabularies but we’re sure even an easily readable hand written note would suffice.
  4. DO NOT share your plans for the festivities on social media until AFTER the event. Burglars are more and more frequently using social media as a source of information to target properties that they know are empty and vulnerable.

Whatever you’re doing this Halloween and Bonfire night, have fun and BE SAFE!

We went. We saw. We conquered. Eck, We flew the Infinite flag so high, you could see it from top of t’ ferris wheel….literally!

Well, what an amazing and rewarding experience that was. 3 solid days of meeting people and spreading the word of Infinite Fire & Security. We met lots of people. Some now new customers and some existing customers too which was a lovely surprise.

If you were there, you’ll know that the weather just about held out! The forecasts for the lead up (and during) were quite abysmal. But thankfully on this occasion, the weatherman/woman got it wrong!! Phew!

We are very proud of the stand that we created. It really was a product of functionality meeting cutting edge design. A fully functioning display of all the high quality products we offer, available to demonstrate whenever required surrounded by the classic ‘Infinite’ styling.

We were located just outside of the bustling main ring, meaning we were able to talk to lots and lots of people from a variety of locations and business sectors. We made sure that no member of Team Infinite was left out. We made sure that over the 3 days, even the apprentice’s and girls in the office got a chance to come along with their families to experience The Great Yorkshire Show first hand and meet the people too. You may have even seen our youngest recruit, Caroline & Chris’ little girl wearing the smallest Infinite shirt we’ve ever created whilst handing out goodie bags outside of the tent.

The office has definitely been hive of activity since we’ve returned. Our sales manager Adam has hardly been in the office since!

Proud is an understatement and a huge welcome to all our new customers!

Watch this space for The Great Yorkshire Show 2020!

E – by – gum, We’re only off to The Great Yorkshire Show next week!

When you think of the Yorkshire Show, you think; Cows, Sheep and Agriculture, but it is also a place for the latest technologies to be unveiled and discussed. We are proud to be part of the Tech 2020 exhibition space. Where the very latest in modern technology for the home, workplace and outdoors will be displayed.

At Infinite Fire & Security, we are proud to fly the Yorkshire flag and our motto ‘Keep it Local’ is at the heart of our business and our literature. We’ve even managed to include Carolines favourite Sheep onto our t-shirts, to really get us into The Yorkshire Show spirit.

So if you’re going or thinking about going to the show this year, pop down to see us and say “Ay’Up” to the guys behind Infinite Fire & Security. You might even be able to use Chris’ magical kettle for a brew (Yorkshire Tea of course!)

We are located at Stand 676 Avenue E behind the Main Ring.

We hope to see you there! Lets hope for good weather!

Fire risk assessments, you may not WANT one, but you NEED one by LAW.

Fire risk assessments are not the most exciting of purchases and, as a preventative measure, do not provide a company with an immediate visible boost from buying – meaning they can be low down on a business’ priority list. However, the assessments are vital and a necessary part of any company infrastructure. A fire risk assessment comes with many more subtle benefits which may not always be apparent, such as; Legal compliance, Education for staff, Confidence with insurance companies and more.

It is a legal requirement in the UK, for a Fire Risk Assessment to be conducted on all blocks of flats or business premises. If your company has 4 or more regular employees in the building, then the Fire Risk Assessment must also be documented. This can be carried out by a ‘responsible person’ but if done incorrectly, you could run afoul with the law. With fines for minor penalties up to £5,000, major penalties being unlimited £’s and up to 2 years in prison, it’s important the Fire Risk Assessment is carried out by the right person. Therefore, appointing an accredited assessor such as the ones at Infinite Fire & Security, removes the risk to you and ensures the assessment is carried out accurately, without legal repercussions for yourself.

So, You’ve booked your fire risk assessment with Infinite Fire & Security, what happens next?

We will attend your site, discuss your requirements and our NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) qualified assessor will carry out the Fire Risk Assessment. On completion we will provide you with a full report of our findings including suggested corrective measures to take to make your building a safer environment, whilst also complying with the current fire legislation. This, of course, can all be done with minimal intrusion to your premises and at an appointment time to suit you.

Why wait? Call the office on 01226 337898, drop us an email or even contact us direct through the website and get the ball rolling. You may not want to, but by law, you need to. So rip the hypothetical plaster off and call us today. Your business will thank you for it.

Accreditations serve a variety of purposes. Such as, customer service, ethical values or quality infrastructures and are often created by independent bodies. In the Fire and Security industry, we are in a field of supporting the prevention of loss of life. That means the fire and security accreditation we work to and work hard for, will be the first element of quality and what you should be looking for in a Fire and Security provider.

Fire prevention and good practice saves lives. It therefore stands to good reason that you should only choose a Fire provider with an independent certification body. One which is accredited by the government body UKAS. The accreditation you need to look for is BAFE. At Infinite Fire & Security, we are BAFE SP203-1 accredited.

We also pride ourselves on being SSAIB certified, which also has wide UKAS accreditation. This means that our certification is subject to independent scrutiny and validation against international standards.

SSAIB’s aim is “To promote high standards of service, within the community of Electronic Security, Guarding and Fire System providers – in the interests of end users. This is achieved through rigorous assessment of providers against SSAIB’s scheme criteria and British or European Standards, maintained by regular and ongoing audits of management systems and inspection of systems” (source: https://ssaib.org/page/our-role/). That therefore means, here at Infinite Fire & Security, we are held to the highest of standards within the industry.

The correct choice of supplier is imperative. Suppliers should not be chosen merely on the cheapest quote, but on the adequate insurance and accreditation the supplier holds. Also, something to consider is the stability and longevity of the company to ensure warranty and continued support is available.

With over 20 years in the Fire & Security industry, you can trust in and on Infinite to deliver and keep on delivering the best service for their customers – For many many years to come.
